Always join GovTEAMS meetings from your Microsoft Teams calendar while logged into your GovTEAMS account. Opening meetings from a link could log you into the wrong account (If you hold any additional pre-existing Microsoft Office 365 accounts) which can cause access issues.

  1. Open Microsoft Teams Desktop or Teams on the web and check that you are logged in with your GovTEAMS account by clicking your avatar/initials.
  2. Open the Teams calendar from the left hand rail.
  3. Select Join

  1. Open the invitation email and select the “Click here to join the meeting” link.
  2. Select if you want to continue in the browser or join on the Teams app.
    • If using Teams on the web, select Allow for use your microphone and camera.
  3. Enter your name.
  4. Set up your audio and video and select Join Now.

I’m a Full Access Member or Partner but I entered the meeting as a guest and ended up in the lobby.

When joining a GovTEAMS meeting always ensure that you are logged in with your GovTEAMS account (ending in @govteams.gov.au for members, or @partner.govteams.gov.au for Partners). You can check what account you are logged in with by selecting your avatar/initials.

How accounts are displayed in Microsoft teams

Do i need a Microsoft Teams/GovTEAMS account to join a meeting?

No, unless the meeting organiser has changed the meeting options to exclude external participants.
